Has DEI Died? And What Do We Do About Immigration?

Written on .

On June 6, Jim Wimberly, Jim Hughes, and Betsy Dorminey presented a webinar addressing the current status of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) programs, and a discussion of recent developments in immigration law for employers. You can watch the webinar and read a transcript HERE.

Jim Wimberly gave a thorough review of the status of DEI programs, which were made mandatory under the Biden Administration but are mostly prohibited under the Trump Administration. He provided concrete advice on how employers should manage these programs, identifying things that must be changed and policies that may be continued, and also discussed the U.S. Supreme Court’s very recent decision on the burden of proof in EEOC “reverse” discrimination cases.

Jim Hughes provided a survey of the immigration landscape, explaining how employers should proceed with workers who have enjoyed temporary protected status and those whose work authorization may be running out.

We paired these topics because both have been in the news a lot. Our goal in producing these webinars is to bring you the practical and legal advice you need to meet today’s employment challenges. Let us know what you think – your questions, suggestions, and feedback are always welcome.
